Sponsored by THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Woman's Rights, 1848 - 1948. One tiny hole on the first leaf; staples beginning to rust; a few corners creased. Otherwise, a very good copy of a fragile item.

Weir was secretary of the Tariff Reform Association of 1858 and government agent for the exportation of American silver coin in 1870. This work contains material on the Rebellion of 1838, the Great Western Railway, silver, copper, the Canadian Banking system and the Great Fire of 1852. Spine sunned with moderate wear to boards and hinges beginning to crack.

New York: Willis McDonald & Co, 1879. First printing. Hardcover. Very good. Approximately 4 1/" x 6 3/4". 128pp. with illustrations plus frontispiece of Sturdivant's portrait and tissue guard inserted. Pale green endpapers. Original light red cloth binding with gilt lettering on front board. A ship captain's account of how he found religion and stopped drinking. Sunning to the spine and front board. However, binding remains tight with very little or no wear to the extremities. Text block is clean.

New York: National Temperance Society and Publication House, [n.d., circa late 1860's or early 1870's]. Near fine. One sheet (approximately 8" x 6 ") folded into a 4-page pamphlet. The first page includes a wood cut illustration of a girl caught in a snow storm, signed by engraver John D. Felter. Above and to the right of the wood cut is also printed "No. 11. "Founded in 1865, the National Temperance Society and Publication House was organized primarily to publish and circulate temperance literature throughout the U. S. This particular tract was written by the journalist and temperance reformer, George Bungay, who spins a tale of a young girl pulling her drunk father out of a bar. The accompanying illustration was engraved and signed by John D. Felter. There is also a second tale about a woman who starts drinking wine and ends up on a downward path to hard liquor. Worldcat locates just one copy in U. S. libraries.

Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1887. First edition, third issue. Hardcover. Near fine. Original brown cloth binding decorated in gilt and dark brown. Laid end papers and top edges gilt. Author's note on p. (7). See BAL 13812. The binding of this copy is remarkably fresh. Small spot on rear board and only minor wear at spine and extremities. Overall, a near fine to fine copy.

"Paper on the edge of the boards beginning to chip along with a few light dampstains. Hinges are beginning to crack. Otherwise, a bright copy.
