Limited edition, no. 21 of 650 copies from a total edition of 750, 4to, xxii, (ii), 140 pp. Publisher's quarter terracotta cloth over orange boards illustrated in red to the upper cover, gilt lettering to the spine, slipcase. Frontispiece and 40 photographic illustrations plus line drawings in the text Occasional very mild wear to the slipcase, an attractive copy. An out of the ordinary copy of the standard issue, being signed by the illustrator Richard Kennedy, the editor Jeremy Wilson and the publisher John Randle. Another signature appears above theirs which looks to be that of one of Leeds' descendants.

Four works bound in one volume, 12mo, (3)-95, (1), (3)-78, (2), (3)-83, (1), (iii)- xxiv, (iv), 103, (1) pp, bound without half titles. Frontispiece to each work, two of the title pages printed in red and black, 18th century inscription crossed through to fly leaf with a 19th century inscription to the paste down. Contemporary calf with a blind stamped border, some wear, recently rebacked with a black spine label. The final work contains "Phædra and Hippolitus" as well as several shorter pieces.

London: Printed for John Sharp, 1817.. 12mo, (ii), 204 pp. Engraved title and 6 plates, marbled endpapers and sides. Contemporary calf, blind tooled spine with gilt bands and a morocco label, light wear to extremities. Originally published in 1782.

London: Charles and Edwin Layton, 1856.. First edition, large 8vo, xxviii, 214 pp. Contemporary signature to title page and paste down, later ones to fly leaf. Original gilt titled blind stamped cloth, upper joint and spine ends with some subtle repair.

Boston and New York: Houghton Mifflin Company, The River side Press, Cambridge, [c.1904].. 8vo. An attractive contemporary Arts and Crafts style binding of full brown morocco, spine flat and gilt lettered direct, both boards gilt tooled with a very decorative recurring pattern of roses and leaves, pictorial bookplate of the Riverside Press to the front and rear pastedowns, top edge gilt. Frontispiece. A lovely copy. Issued as part of the Graylock Edition of the complete writings of Hawthorne. Despite the presence of the Riverside bookplates, it is evidently not a publisher's binding, which being unsigned, could possibly have been done by an accomplished amateur.

Oxford University Press, Henry Frowde, 1913.. 8vo, (viii), 374 pp. 16 plates, marbled endpapers and edges, prize label from Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Crediton, to fly leaf. Contemporary red sheep, gilt spine and borders, gilt arms, an excellent copy.

Mineola, NY: Calla Editions, 2008.. 4to. 412, (4) pp. Publisher's black cloth, gilt to the spine and with a black, white and gold illustration mounted to the upper cover. Frontispiece and 7 colour plates plus another 24 in black and white. Mild spine crease, else very good. Similar in format to the slightly earlier UK Folio Society edition but with the benefit of having some of the plates in colour and more illustrations overall.

First edition, 8vo, 264 pp. Marbled endpapers, t.e.g. Bound in a designer-style binding of full red morocco, t.e.g., covers with a gilt vignette comprising a snowflake pattern inside an eight pointed star, vertical gilt lines and blind stamped circles to the rest of the boards, spine sunned and minor wear to one corner otherwise a handsome volume.
