The BOOK is in near Fine condition with just very slight pushing and rubbing at the spine ends and corners. Full gilt morocco with the John Bratby decoration to the front cover. The text printed in red and black printed on Sheepstor hand name paper. A decorative title page with striking colour illustrations by John Bratby, and a list of subscribers to the rear. Light toning to the text-block with some light spotting to the upper text-block. Publisher's bookmark still present. A previous owner's name and date to the front end-paper. They are mentioned in the list of subscribers. Small glue remnant to the front end paper where a newspaper clipping was tipped in. Some faint spotting to the edges and prelims. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The fragile WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. Some light markings and slight edge-wear. The wrapper is protected in a removable archival protector and carries a striking period design signed with the initials 'EJIA'. These initials must be those of Edward Jeffrey Irving Ardizzone and this wrapper artwork must have been one of his earliest commissions. Born in Ireland, this is O'Leary's best known work, a science fiction novel in which 'a woman is given a drug that induces a range of Identity Transfer experiences, including life as a mouse and as her own betrayed husband ' (Science Fiction Encyclopaedia, online). The First UK printing of this illustrated edition published by the Golden Hours Press, London in 1932. Number '15' of 250 copies issued with only 200 copies being for sale. The BOOK is in Very Good- condition. In the publisher's original marbled boards and morocco spine. The latter is lightly faded but the gilt titling remains bright. Slight fading to the board edges. Upper edge gilt and others uncut with some toning to the fore-edge . Internally, some spotting to the prelims and page edges. Some damp-staining to the lower corner which is present on the majority of pages. Penned number '15c' to the front blank end-paper but otherwise free from inscriptions. This is the original edition printed and bound for The Golden Hours Press. It did not sell well on publication and many copies were left unbound.
