A scarce example of an uncommon piece of ephemeral, prewar artwork by Herbert Foxwell - signed in print "Foxwell" at bottom right - with his iconic, knot-tailed mouse in the upper left corner and his fellow cartoon characters in the other three corners. The certificate has a silver gelatin photograph mounted at center showing the first prize winner - a Miss Margaret Crisp, sitting beside her winning entry into the then-popular Sand Design Competition. This particular event was held in the town of Dovercourt on July 26th, 1935.
