Being a historical review, the original work contained significantly less information than each next edition. This is the catalog for the first ever exhibition of Kukryniksy art. It was initiated by Maxim Gorky who also wrote an article for Pravda about this and introduction for the catalog. There was only one their show in the 1930s. The catalog includes caricatures from posters, books, magazines, newspapers, paintings and a photograph of a caricature doll of Vsevolod Meyerhold. The unique design of the catalog allowed to print an agitprop quote by Vladimir Maiakovsky through the whole catalog. His private library set new standards for collectors of Russian fiction and first editions. His selection of Pushkin editions became the model for future generations of collectors. Every bibliographical entry comes with the notes on the rarity of the book and the story of its publication.
