Full of charming biographies of French poets. For example, Bernis begins "What a shame for the people of France that this charming poet abandoned it so early." The map covers the Dauphiné in southeastern France. In the west is the Rhône, and in the east Piemont in Italy. 505 x 580 mm (20 x 22¾ inches). One central fold. The colours are strong and edges are a little delicate. Blank verso. Gravure sur cuivre de Johann Baptist Homann, avec coloration à la main contemporaine. Paris: Peeters Portraits, 1955. Three large silver gelatin photographs (23.5cm x 17.5cm) each signed in white ink by the photographer Harcourt. These are mounted under passe partout and tipped onto the front of folding card. The three images are of a young girl's First Holy Communion, and she is pictured in suitably angelic poses! The three are held in a photography company's cream card folder embossed with "Peeters Portraits Paris" to the front cover. These are possibly produced with a "professional" model as samples of the work that Peeters portraits can produce for customers. Photographs in as new condition. The cream fold has a touch of darkening and a tiny amount of splitting to the bottom edge of the spine. Folder size 38.5cm x 28.5cm . Slight splitting to surface of spine edge. Monogram bookplate to the inside board. Slight weakness to the binding at the title, and darkening to the page edges, but overall a very respectable copy. Portrait of Lady Bury and 6 engraved aquatints (complete). Sadlier 480: "This pious memorial to her husband (he died in 1832) was surely erected at Lady Charlotte's expense. the drawings are of considerable merit and beautifully reproduced. I include the book, despite its poetical character, for the sake of the drawings, and in order that its existence may be known." Having said that, there is a significant list of Royal Subscribers at the beginning of the book. xiv, 140 pages.

An attractive photograph of the lake with the mountain in the distance. The Kitzsteinhorn is a mountain peak in Salzburg in the Austrian Central Alps with an elevation of 3203 meters. Tidy copy, with a touch of creasing and one small closed tear to the edge. C1890. 230 by 283mm #2895 - Kaprunerthal, Mooserboden. The reservoir (Mooserboden) with the Kaprun peaks in the distance. Kaprun is a town southwest of Salzburg in the Austrian Alps. It sits at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. Nice photograph with a few small closed tears to the edges (now repaired). 230 by 283mm #2887 - Kapruner Thal Sigmund thum klamm - A waterfall in a valley in the Salzburg region. London: Thos McLean, 1829. The title refers to a satirical play of the time, but here are the Irish politicians John Lawless; Daniel O'Connell; Richard Lalor Sheil. Obviously Doyle is referencing Irish agitation, but also perhaps the Catholic emancipation act of 1829. Clear image, with some light water staining across the whole image. Pasted onto a mustard card backing. Backing card is chipped and tatty to the edges but could be neatly trimmed. Print is 35cm x 26cm. Backing card is 51cm x 36cm Conforms to National Portrait Gallery item NPG D40943. John Lawless (1773-1837), Irish agitator; Daniel O'Connell (1775-1847), Irish politician; MP for Dublin City and Cork County; Richard Lalor Sheil (1791-1851), Irish writer, orator and politician; MP for Tipperary and Dungarvan. .
