Curious article about addressed to the state commander general, and a new request from their general asking for peace, in Loma Blanca, Chihuahua: "...the main little captain appeared of the Apaches Juan José Compá" before the section of operations against the barbarian Indians all the Apaches full of jubilation approached us, expressing to us the pleasure they had of celebrating peace. Immediately the aforementioned Juan José appeared, whom he gathered with eight captains and more than sixty slackers, told us that he had come to our call to obey us, trusting he and all the others in our good faith and in the certainty of having already requested the pace... That if it is true they have caused harm, they have also resented us; but that in the day they are repentant and ask to be forgiven".

The first catalogue, produced, from the famous Texas bookseller, John H. Jenkins. The endnote states: "The amateur appearance of printing in this catalogue is due to its having been done by amateurs. It is hoped that by the time of the appearance of Catalogue Number Two a finer printing prowess will have been achieved."

An intriguing manuscriot letter by Miguel de Músquiz, the commandant of the strategically important post of Nacogdoches in Spanish Texas, written soon after his men killed the legendary mustanger Philip Nolan. Lieutenant Músquiz led the force of over one hundred men that tracked down Nolan in March of 1801, ostensibly for illicit horse catching, but also because of suspicions that he was spying for the United States or involved in a conspiracy with Aaron Burr to invade Texas.
Nacogdoches, Tx. October 8, 1802. 3 pp. on a folded folio sheet of laid paper. Docketed in manuscript on the fourth page. Paper with "Maid of Dort" form of Pro Patria, I.T. Middelink watermark. Drawings of two horse brands in the left margin of the first page. The paper is moderately toned, and the ink is a bit faded but still easily readable.
