Description:
[NY: Columbia Broadcasting System, 1946. First Edition. A scarce book written by Bemelmans at the request of the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS). The story appears to have been written in 1946-1947- no date in the book The two "glimps" each have a television set. One glimp lives in a black & white world while the other enjoys the rich hues of color television. The outcome is obvious. CBS was trying to advocate for color television sets through this scarce promotional work by Bemelmans. While a 1946-47 date is usually attributed for this this story, that doesn't make much sense to me since color tvs were not even available for sale until the 1950s [??]. With a scarce yellow CBS card laid in promoting the book. Oblong 8vo., white pictorial boards; 50 pages. Color & black & white drawings by the author.. Very Good (moderate soil covers & bit of light cracking exterior of front hinge; contents clean & tight). A pretty nice copy of a fragile book.

Description:
NY: The Truth Seeker Company, 1894. Scarce First Edition. Morgan Andrew Robertson [1861-1915] was an American author and the self-proclaimed inventor of the periscope. This title is apparently his rare first book- a narrative poem about heaven versus the devil. Great illustrations! Robertson is best known for his short novel Futility, or the Wreck of the Titan, first published in 1898. This story features an enormous British passenger liner called the SS Titan, which, deemed to be unsinkable, carries an insufficient number of lifeboats. On a voyage in the month of April, the Titan hits an iceberg and sinks in the North Atlantic, resulting in the loss of almost everyone on board. There are many close similarities with the real-life disaster of the RMS Titanic and was published 14 years before the actual Titanic. The similarities between the two have partially fueled conspiracy theories regarding the Titanic. In 1905, Robertson's book The Submarine Destroyer was released. It described a submarine that…
