Description:
New York. The Derrydale Press. 1938. Limited edition. Book number 407 of 950 copies published. Octavo (7 1/2 x 5 1/2). 367 pp. The title page is printed in red and black. Illustrated by Milton C. Weiler. Illustrated color frontispiece with tissue guard. Color plus black and white plates. Mr. Walden was a fine writer, his style uncomplicated and passionate, and you’ll recognize his vulnerabilities and vicissitudes on the stream are pretty much like ours. A fine read. Nick Lyons wrote in 1981 that Howard Walden was the last surviving writer published by The Derrydale Press. The book is bound in black cloth with gilt titles and decorations on the spine and front cover plus the oval color adornment. The problem with this edition is the publisher utilized a cloth fabric that nearly dissolved the gilt titles and decorations. So here we are, the cover titles nearly invisible. A clean, very good book..
