Seattle: Author, n.d.. First printing. 10 x 13 inches, archival digital print. Edition size unstated, but small; signed by author in pencil below image. As new. Prolific visual poet Vassilakis, whose work includes animated, microscopic, and magnified texts, not to mention regular old writing, here digitally manipulates letters, freeing them from their enslavement in words, further altering and designing the resulting image by repeating rectangular and square sections.

San Blas Islands, Panama: Artist, 1950s–60s. Original work. 18.5 x 13.75 inches (image area). Reverse appliqué, in wood and cloth frame. The painted wood frame bears some scuffs and scrapes (as seen in image); the mola itself is in very good condition, slightly faded with age but still vivid. A wonderfully detailed mola from the Cuna people of the San Blas Islands off the coast of Panama, with traced letters, figures carrying what might be fish (or rattles, or lanterns), and a bright, intricate geometric background. The legend, SINGER SEWING MACHINES, with its reversed and upside-down letters, is a perhaps unintentionally ironic commentary on this hand-sewn practice.

Portland, OR: Author, 1992. Original work. 7.5 x 9.5 inches (image area). Pastel (oil crayon?) drawing on paper. Signed and dated in ink on reverse. Moisture stains to reverse, not affecting image, otherwise very good, in simple wood frame with a few small nicks and scrapes. The story that accompanied this striking image was that the artist had worked as a janitor in Portland, Oregon, and died by suicide, but to date those details have not been verified.

Faint hint of sunning to top and bottom edges of sheet, otherwise in fine condition; double-matted in gold-colored metal frame with minor scratches. Posed portrait of a young Japanese girl, dressed for an occasion, with nametag (?) and flower attached to her dress. Possibly based on historical photograph, connected to relocation? Scan shows partial image; additional scans/photos on request.

n.p.: n.p., 1930s?. Original work. 16 x 20.5 inches (frame). Original untitled pencil and gouache painting on paper or board, signed in the lower right corner. In very good condition, with no apparent flaws (not examined outside of frame). William Andrew (Willy) Pogany (1882–1955) was a celebrated Hungarian-American illustrator, contemporary of Edmund Dulac and N.C. Wyeth. He is remembered most for his illustrations of myths and fairy tales (both Western and Eastern): The Rubaiyat, Parsifal, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Gulliver's Travels, the Arabian Nights, and so on. This figure, possibly a sketch for a magazine cover or a costume design, was acquired by its current owners directly from the artist’s son.

San Francisco: Author, 2013. First printing. 13 x 19 inches, archival pigment print, signed on the reverse. An alleyway in Lecce, Italy. Tiny trace of adhesive from hanging at top edge, not affecting image; otherwise as new.

Oaxaca de Juárez, Mexico: Artist, 2019. First printing. 6.5 x 10 inches (single panel), 39.5 x 10 inches (unfolded). Folded accordion, in sewn paper envelope. Edition of seventy signed and dated copies. New. The second silkscreened artist’s book by Bayrol Jimenez, immensely talented co-proprietor of the gallery La Garrapata de la Oveja in Oaxaca, Mexico, featuring many layers of imagery printed in half a dozen colors. Each six-panel side constitutes a single frieze or mural on paper, and each copy of the book is housed in a unique envelope with an original drawing in Japanese ink (see last photos).

Lawrence, KS: Tansy, 1977. First Edition. Stapled wrappers. [8] pp. "An Excerpt from WATERS OF POTOWMACK, A Documentary History of the Potomac River Basin." Issued as Tansy 5. At the time of this publication, Waters of Potowmack was scheduled to be published by Aperture; after years of wrangling and dispute, it was finally published by North Point in 1982. Faint corner crease to last couple of pages, and tanning at edges, otherwise very good. 8vo.

Seattle: Henry Art Gallery, 2000. First printing. 175 pp., 10 x 12 inches. Printed paper over boards, without dust-jacket, as issued. With essays by Russell Ferguson, Timothy Martin, and curator Conkelten. Illustrated in color and black-and-white throughout. Published in conjunction with an exhibition at the Henry Art Gallery and the Contemporary Art Museum in Houston. A fine copy, essentially as new, save for a few faint stray marks to the covers.
