Borders, initials and decorations, including a full-page decorative title in each volume of the Shelley, and double-page title spread in the Keats, by Charles Ricketts. Spine as near to original hue as ever seen. Browning to prelims in the Keats, but no browning in the three Shelley volumes, amazingly. Shelley all three volumes unopened.The finest set we have seen in some time.

Original color pictorial paper covered boards (two-toned) with red-brown patterned design at the spine, and green decorated paper over most of the boards in a repeating flower and vine pattern, printed paper labels on both spines. 210 copies, cover design, exquisite full-page decorated title pages in each volume, intricate initials throughout, all by Charles Ricketts. A difficult title to find, especially in fine condition. Our copy is exemplary, very fine, with very light browntoning to endsheets and first free fly which is almost universally seen in abundance.

With initial advertisement leaf and three final contents pages; advertisement at foot of Z4. In this edition, the text is in roman letter. Endpapers slightly browned around the edges from turn-ins, neat paper repairs with a few letters supplied, half-inch tear to lower margin pages 63/64, small piece torn from upper edge (paper flaw) pages 37/38 and a few very faint stains or fox marks. A scarce and representative Secessionist-style book with a superb woodcut illustration by Felix Vallotton, 1865-1925, noted artist of the period and member of the Les Nabis collective. Superb decorations, cover design and illustrated endpapers by Gustave-Henri Jossot. Excellent copy. Most scarce.

A wonderful period linen textile illustrated with scenes of the fire in the Prince of Wales' Tower, 1853, and produced probably dating to the 1860's. "Fire! Fire! At Windsor Castle. Destruction of the Private Apartments of the Queen and Prince Albert," a fine linen scarf illustration measuring 15 x 20 inches (38.1 x 50.8 cm), framed under glass to 21 x 25 inches (53.3 x 63.5 cm). Toned with scattered areas of foxing, else fine. Not examined outside frame. From the William E. Fredeman Collection.

Original nineteenth century embossed and polished full calf (black), decorative borders, raised gilt bands on spine, gilt inner dentelles, red silk moirÈ endpapers, AEG. 88 leaves (unnumbered), title leaf with gilt embossed border, mounted title engraved card of an explorer holding a flag with the words: "Album." This exquisite and scarce Victorian album contains numerous pen & ink drawings, a hand-painted pencil drawing, three nicely painted watercolors (1 signed), ALS, two large folding broadsides, 2 large folding engravings (1 hand-colored) and more. This album comprises a wide variety of material and mediums, with an emphasis on the French Revolution, the Napoleonic era, and the Third Empire. 22 x 26.5 inches. Scarce turn-of-the-century full silk commemorative, bearing the printed image of Queen Victoria. Printed in red, light blue-green, and beige on silk. The image shows Queen Victoria with a red fan, crown and standing in a decorative dress. This marked the the first Diamond Jubilee celebration of any British monarch in history. A wonderful composition, with circular decorative borders and red bands emanating typifying the British flag. Stapled onto a card backing. There is some water staining that has incurred on the left portion of the silk, and a few smaller, but darker stains not he right side. Good only. Scarce.

Vienna, 1910. Two Large Folio-size Proofs of Fabulous Woodcuts, one by Helene Klaunzer, student of Franz Cizek (the one on left, ìBeer Gardenî), and possibly both done by Klaunzer. Rectangular (oblong) woodblock prints, 13 x 19 inches, on cream-colored coated paper proof paper, with image size: 8 x 15 inches. Klauzner was a student of the renowned Viennese Secessionist artist, designer and reformer, Prof. Franz Cizek (1865-1946). The art is distinctively Secessionist. There is a third sheet (blank) with the following notation written in pencil: ìStudents Work-/ Prof Cizekís Art School-/ Vienna, Austria.î We have corroborated that the first proof (ìScene in a Beer Gardenî), was done ca. 1910, by Helene Klaunzner, as held by the Victoria & Albert Museum, and pictured on their website. Exquisite Secessionist and Art Nouveau illustrations, one full-page illustration at end, vignettes and border designs in text. 32pp. Some memorable and unique design motifs presented here in this vanishingly scarce narrative about the glass painter Jakob Griesinger. No other copies located in the marketplace. Very good.

Original brilliant white fine cloth covers with bold central design element containing Jugendstil typeface lettering in relief on front cover, ochre laid paper endsheets. Numerous illustrations of Viennese Secession designs by disciples of Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser, Carl Otto Czeschka and others, among them Carl Bauer, E. Wimer, Carl Witzmann, Franz Zeymer, Gustav Kahlhammer, and Karl Krenek. Several illustrations in gold and colors, including architectural models, and designs for decorative arts such as ceramics, textiles, book illustration, metalwork, and typography. Volume XII of the Kochs Monographien series Entw¸rfe zu Architekturen und Flachen-Dekorationen Junger Wiener Kunstler. Scarce and distinctively Secessionist work in very good condition with slight dusting to spine, fly creased and one prelim leaf with small repair at corner.

Vintage Ball souvenir with exquisite metal (to look like silver) heavily embossed with a stunning Vienna Secession stamped design, and with the original red and white (Austrian national colors) string and tassels fully intact. The souvenir opens to show the printed dance card held in place by a stylized metal clip. The "Ball of the City" of Vienna was held in the ballroom of the City Hall initially with Mayor Karl Lueger and Archduke Leopold Salvator. Illustrated throughout with photographic reproductions and descriptions of past items printed and manufactured by the Ball der Concordia institution. The text has been composed by Bertha M. Goudy, in Village type designed by Frederic W. Goudy, and printed by them at the Village Press, New York, in September, 1907."
