Description:
Newcastle upon Tyne: Bloodaxe Books. 1985. First edition, first printing. First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Pictorial softcover. A better than very good copy, the extremities lightly rubbed and toned, the spine a little faded. The contents, with faint toning to the margins and a small mark to the inside of the front cover, are otherwise clean throughout Signed by Tony Harrison in blue ink on the half title. Harrison's poem 'V.' documents a visit to his parents' graves in Holbeck Cemetery in Leeds and draws together mundane details of daily life and political and philosophical ideas. It uses many instances of profanity and slurs, particularly when quoting graffiti, which caused controversy when it was broadcast by the BBC in 1987. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.
