Germany, 1895. Print no binding. Near fine. [HOLIDAY]. [Victorian Cupid-Ship Valentine.] 9 3/8" x 5 7/8". Embossed, die-cut, color-printed, 3-dimensional Valentine greeting card with honeycomb pop-out and red transparent light-window, marked "Printed in Germany." Bottom stand printed, "To My Valentine," and printed on the heart of roses die-cut, "A Message of True Love." Three die-cut children sail on the boat. An inscription in pen on the verso reads "From Room 19" and "about 1895." Age-toning of the card stock and a few light creases, one small break with old repair to top of right side of forget-me-not flowers.

Not recorded. A small gift or novelty book of the type first made popular in the late 19th century. This booklet features a rhyming verse about longing for the comfort of the local church. The poem finishes with a quote from Psalm 100 verse 4, "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.".

Description:
[Germany]: None identified, 1950. Ephemera no binding. Fine. 9 ¼" wide x 13 ¾" long x 2 ½" high; 80 blocks. An interesting vintage German child's woodblock building toy. The wood case measures 9 ¼" wide x 13 ¾" long x 2 ½" high, and contains a total of 80 blocks.  It has dovetailed corners and the sliding top has a color printed label of two boys playing with building blocks.  There are two layers of building blocks, 50 blocks of different shapes in the top layer, some with decoration to the wood, and 30 plain various-sized blocks in the bottom layer. No maker is noted on the box, although there is a small logo featuring a block-style castle inside a small oval on the label.  Many toys of this type were made in the Erzgebirge region of Germany.  The blocks are in fine and unused condition, the box is in fine condition with some wrinkling and small stains on the label.  This is a heavy wood toy.
