New York: Macmillan Company, 1930. First edition. 212pp. Octavo [21 cm] Black cloth with orange and black title and pictorial paper labels on the front board and backstrip. The spine and covers show only mild wear at the edges, and the spine is a bit rolled. The rippled front free endpaper is adhered to the front pastedown, and on the verso of this page, is a previous owner's name and a mounted descriptive blurb about the book. With dark patches on this page, and the page opposite. The frontispiece is lightly offset on the title page. Illustrated with seven full-page woodcuts, including the six-color frontispiece, and fifteen chapter headers by Lynd Ward. Ward created these woodcuts shortly after the publication of his second wordless novel, Mad Man's Drum. These illustrations show Ward at the height of his creative abilities.

Orange and white pictorial endpapers. There is a previous owner's name stamped on the half title page. In the dust jacket which is clipped at the top fore-edge corner. The dust jacket is very attractive, with only very ligyt edgewear and a minor moisture stain to the reverse. Hardy Boys Mystery Story Number 30. "The Wailing Siren Mystery" is the last title listed on the front inside flap. It is also the last title listed on the verso of the half title. The rear inside flap lists 4 "Ken Holt" titles and the rear panel lists 6 "Rick Brant" titles.

Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1967. First edition. Hardcover. 208pp. Octavo [21 cm] Black cloth covered boards with white ink stamped titles on the spine and front cover. Bright yellow endsheets. Very good. The edges of the spine and covers are rubbed and lightly bumped. The spine is ever so slightly rolled. The dust jacket is in very good condition, with rubbing. Subtly yellowed. There are numerous small light stains on the rear panel. The edges are slightly creased and chipped. There is a slightly larger chip in the paper at the foot of the spine that measures just under a 1/4 inch deep. Waldo is Theroux's first novel, which sold about 4000 copies at the time it was released.
