R. Farmes & Sons. Trench football is a printed card maze within a wooden case and glass front. It was made by R. Farmers & Sons in 1916. The objective of the game is to guide the ball from "kick off" past the pot holes marked with cartoon images of German military leaders and politicians (such as Hindenburg, Terpitz and Zeppelin). The player needs to guide the ball past the Kaiser's open mouth into the back of the net. In superb condition, both front and back are with no damage or colour loss. There are copies in the Imperial War Museum and National Football Museum.  . Near Fine. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1916.

Century. First edition published in 2005 by Century. This is a near fine copy. The elusive glossy white wrapper is complete without any loss. There is the occasional mark and tiny amounts of edge wear. There is very little toning though. The book is square and tight. There is a shade of toning to the spine. The copyright page shows the correct numberline going down to 1, indicating a first print copy. Overall near fine. Most first edition books in hardback were issued and sold without a jacket, with only a small quantity within the print run obtaining one. So jacketed copies are hard to find. . Near Fine. Kaye & Ward. First edition published by Kaye & Ward in 1982. This is a very good copy. Issued without a dust wrapper and rare as quite a few of the first print copies went to libraries. This copy has a small bump to the top corner of the upper board. The back board has two chips to the laminate where a previous owner has attempted to take the price sticker off. The pages are very clean, without marks, ink or stamps. Overall a collectible copy.  Cover design by Victor Ambrus. The classic great war story about a young horse called Joey being sent to the western front in France. It was adapted to the big screen by Steven Spielberg in 2011.  . Very Good. A four volume set all uniformly 8vo., original navy blue cloth boards, gilt lettering to the upper boards and spine, with an armorial motif on both; pp. 359 (1) 392 (2) 424 (3) and 408 (4); A very good set. The first volume with rubbed spine ends and a small stain on the spine. Corners are rubbed. There is browning to the front and lower free end papers. Volume two only very light handling wear. The corners are gently pushed and very mild wear to spine ends. Faint browning to first and last couple of pages. Volume three a couple of scratches to the side text block and a mark to the lower board. faint browning to a page or two. Volume four rippling to the cloth boards towards the text block on the upper board. A small stain to the spine and rubbing to spine ends and corners. Marks to the lower board. George Allen & Unwin. First edition published by George Allen and Unwin in 1934. This is a very good or better copy. The bright mustard jacket has minor wear to the top and bottom of the toned spine. There are two small tears to the top edge. There is general minor wear to the edges and corners. On the reverse of the jacket is a piece of tape that has repaired one of the tears. It has been price clipped. The book has the odd mark to the boards but overall is very clean with no marks or foxing to the pages. Overall a very good or better copy. Waley's translation of the Tao Te Ching, one of chinas most famous books dating to the end of the third century B.C. It is based on Waley's close study of early Chinese literature. He provides an introduction and commentary on each part. A very rare book to find in first print and with the jacket. A key Arthur Waley title.  . Very Good. Ernest Benn Limited. First UK edition published by Ernest Benn Limited in 1928. This is a very good or better copy. The highly illustrative and striking jacket is not clipped. There is a small amount of loss at the top of the spine. There is also a tiny tear to the top left hand corner of the front panel. The top of the back panel has tear that has been repaired to the reverse. along with a small water stain mark to the reverse of the jacket at the bottom of the spine and a tiny tear to the bottom edge of the front panel. The book has a tiny amount of rubbing to the bottom of the spine and a corner tip. Otherwise the book is excellent with clean pages. Overall a very good or better copy. A striking dust wrapper design by M Alleyne showing capitalists on a viewing platform watching men fighting each other below really encapsulates the theme of the book being the author's guesses and forecasts for the future. James Barrie. First edition published by James Barrie in 1951. This is a very good copy. The superb Philip Gough dust wrapper has not been price clipped displaying 10s 6d net. There is a small amount of loss to the top of the spine and atear to the top edge of the back panel. The is edge wear to the spine ends and corners. On the reverse of the jacket there are archival tape repairs. The corners of the book have been gently pushed. The spine is a shade faded. The author has inscribed to a previous owner, and signed and dated it in the year of publication.  A later collection of supernatural short stories by Cynthia Asquith. She was the author of other well regarded short story collections such  as The Ghost Book and This Mortal Coil. Victor".     Major Victor Cazalet recollects his epic journey with General Sikorski Prime Minister of Poland, as Winston Churchill's political liaison officer.
