Fascinating 1883 manuscript account of the War of the Women, a legendary brawl amongst the leading families of Stonington over the use of the Wequetequock schoolhouse. Written as a newspaper article (of which I could not identify a published version); based on the substitution of "Mecca of" for "home of" I surmise this is an original composition and not a transcription. Discovered in an uncommon book of gospel songs: "Windows of Heaven. Hymns New and Old. H. M. Wharton and I. S. Field. Baltimore: National Evangelization Society 1895". The book also contains several other items of ephemera, including a manuscript poem. Included is a USAAF patch, a 7th Air Force shoulder patch, A US Army Hawaii patch, Pictures of Guam, including prisoners of war, Japanese invasion currency. an instrument name plate from a downed Japanese "Zero". photos of training, poison gas recognition chart, GI hijinks, + much more. Also included are letters of friends that developed during his time in Guam, and two Kenosha,WI Evening Newspapers announcing the Japanese Surrender, and the soon-to-end rationing of Gas, fuel oil, canned foods, meat, butter etc. Approx. 13"x10", 32 pages - excellent shape. .

Soltysik, Hall and Perry would be killed in a California shootout, May 17,1974, just one month after the FBI poster's release. In March 1973, career criminal and prison escapee Donald DeFreeze became the leader of the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), an American revolutionary group that operated in California in the mid-1970s. DeFreeze had been radicalized in prison and embraced a loose Marxism as a code for revolution. After his escape, DeFreeze hid out in Patricia Soltysik's house, who was unknown to the police at the time, and they became lovers.
