Atlas York County Maine, Philadelphia: Sanford: Everts and Co, 1872. Roberts; hand-colored; a few light spots; very good. Now called Waterboro, the town was first incorporated in 1787 by the Massachusetts General Court, the name was shortened to Waterboro in 1895. This map sections Waterborough into districts but lacking a Directory on the map to their purpose; of note is the Portland & Rochester Railroad formed in 1867 by a merger of the York and Cumberland Railroad (1846) and Nashua and Rochester Railroad (1847); the railway only operated until 1883 until further merges occurred.
