Folio 40.5 x 30.5 cm., wrappers, 12pp. The competition entry by Wagner for the proposed Franz-Josef Museum in Vienna, which would later be called the Vienna Museum. This was a long-standing project with Wagner, when the architect began advocating it with the city administration as early as 1901. Wagner's design, which would have engaged Karlsplatz and included a stunning monument design, gained initial acceptance but ran into political opposition which in the end prevailed. As it happened, the entire project was abandoned in 1921 and it became one of the great ideas for an "Unbuilt Vienna," the former imperial capital now impoverished. This grand announcement runs twelve pages and is illustrated with elevation and perspective drawings and floor plans. Wagner considered it one of his most important projects. Wagner issued a few of these "annual reports," all in this format; they are rather scarce. Rare: two library copies held in North America (Columbia, Univ IL). A fine copy
