Sayeth the New York Times in 1905: "A WOMAN'S CONFESSIONAL, by Helen Woljeska, (New York: Life Publishing Company,) is printed in purple ink. It is made up of short, frequently pert extracts from an unusual diary. The reader cannot decide whether to accept Helen Woljeska as a real personage, or to set her down as fabulous," This original copy is in good condition overall, moderately worn and lightly soiled or foxed at the exterior, the binding is solid, paper is clean and light to moderately yellowed.

PLEASE NOTE: though the copy is essentially 'unread' and been in storage since publication, the paper used has further yellowed and the faux leather cover has hardened. Octavo, 8" tall, xxxvii + 366 + 10 pages. An unread copy which was bound in a cheap material often used with textbooks in the 1960s which sadly hardens with age. This is a 'new' copy in only very good minus condition, but spine edges have some chipping at bottom, and the fore-edges are lightly darkened; otherwise with little actual shelf wear. Interior hinges and binding solid, paper artificially browned to appear aged, and replicate the original with this facsimile of the 1855 edition, so how much yellowing there is cannot be determined. This is an ex-library copy, bearing the perforated stamp on several leaves, but not affecting text. Issued in card covers to be rebound as was the custom, here with the original title label and price. Quarto 12 1/2" tall, 8 letters in total, 57 pages; with introduction and appendix. A good edition overall with signatures disbound and soiled boards loose, endpaper foxed. Interior paper is in very good condition, moderately yellowed and with light foxing overall. The significant defect is the top half of the half-title page has been torn out where the previous owner's 19th-century inscription once was, though there is no loss of text. This is a rare item deserving of a new binding. The term 'second impressions' refers to the fact that these facsimile copies constitute a copy of the original letters.
