Speciality Press, 1983. Very Good/Good. 285 x 220mm, 192 pages. B/w photos, detailed line drawings. Book Condition: Very good, clean red embossed boards, tight binding. Jacket Condition: Good, clean, bright, not faded, not creased, minor edge/corner rubbing, faint 'score' to front cover(see photo), will be protected in removable sleeving prior to sale. Comments: An excellent history and study of the American X-Planes (X for Experimental). These aircraft were used to test all aspects of high speed, high altitude flight, the prime example being the X-15 rocket powered plane which was 'dropped' from a B-52 bomber and on one occasion achieved an altitude of 67 miles and a speed of just over 4000 mph !!. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
