Oblong 4to., cord bound, pale wrappers with tinted photogravure image on front cover. Wrappers edgeworn, with closed tears up to 3 inches at edges. Foxing to inside front cover and first tissue guard only. Fifteen monochrome photogravures of notable buildings on campus. Introduction by William Howard Taft. No title page. Image size 5 3/4 x 7 3/4 inches, page size 9 1/2 x 11 3/4 inches.

1912. [CANDY] TAKAGI Shotaro, editor. YAMATO NISHIKI Zen. Tokyo, Tokyo Kashi Kenkyukai, Taisho Gannen [1912]. Tassel-bound, oblong (22.1 x 28.3 cm) in brocade covers with printed paper title label. A wonderful guide to the schools of traditional candy-making in japan and their varied productions, profusely illustrated in color lithograph, with an extensive textual explanation of the various examples presented. There is some cover wear and page soiling but good to very good overall. A very scarce and informative work on this popular subject.

1890. TWAIN, Mark, (Samuel L. Clemens). A YANKEE AT THE COURT OF KING ARTHUR. Authorized Edition. In Two Volumes. - Vol. I. (& II.) Leipzig: Bernhard Tauchnitz, 1890. Collection of British Authors Tauchnitz Edition, Volumes 2638 & 2639. The first Tauchnitz edition of this title. Two small octavo volumes (16 x 11 cm), uniformly bound in quarter brown cloth and marbled paper boards, with gilt-stamped title on spines, and all edges marbled: 286,[2], 270,[2] pp. Contemporary ink ownership on ffep. of each volume (one is dated 'February 14, 1891 - Berlin') and a faint pencil note ('Those people are French are they not?') on the half-title in volume 1. Two leaves in volume 1 (117 & 8) have a closed tear at top edge that touches the running title, but without loss. One leaf in volume 2 (66) has a short closed tear at the fore-edge. Otherwise, some occasional light thumbing, but overall a very good and appealing copy. (Todd & Bowden 2638a & 2639; Rodney pp. 91 & 120; BAL 3648).

1883. (JESSOP, Ernest Maurice, illus.) YE JACKDAW OF RHEIMS. An Antient Ballade by Thomas Ingoldsby. With ye old Writing & ye new Illustrations by Ernest Maurice Jessop. London: Eyre & Spottiswoode, n.d. [1883]. [18] ff. Text and illustrations are entirely lithographed, printed in shades of umber and red, on rectos only. Folio, cloth-backed illustrated boards, yellow coated endpapers. The individual leaves are quite clean and fresh; although a few do show just a touch of light foxing in the margins. Originally the leaves were glued together to form the book block; the glue has disintegrated and the leaves are now housed loose in the portfolio. The binding is quite rubbed all over, with few worn patches on the spine. Nicely illustrated and lithographed, but in a troubled binding; it is offered with all faults.

1944. (TCHELITCHEW, Pavel). YESTERDAY'S CHILDREN. Drawings by Pavel Tchelitchew. Poem by Parker Tyler. New York (etc.): Harper & Brothers, (1944). Slim 4to., black cloth, illustrated. Near fine; in the dust jacket wich shows overall soiling and edgewear. The illustrations are preliminary drawings for Tchelitchew's painting Hide and Seek with an accompanying poem by Tyler, which expresses his reaction to the drawings.

First edition. 8vo., green cloth, decorated in gilt, t.e.g.; 419pp. With chapters on Thackeray, Hawthorne, Dickens, Wordsworth, Miss Mitford. Ownership inscription on pastedown, spine decoration worn, else very good.

1920. BIEBER, John. YOD-HE-VAU-HE: DEATH IS OVERCOME LIFE IS EVERLASTING. Washington, DC: Printed privately, 1920. 256 pp. 8vo., blue cloth stamped in gilt. Externally fine, clean and bright. Some offset tanning to front endpapers. The two large black and white folding charts are detached from the bookblock, and there is a small area of loss in each where the remainder of the image is still attached to the book (ultimately no loss). Spiritual prophecy.

1968. SERIZAWA Keisuke. YOKUJO, Tokyo, Gallery Gohachi, Showa 43 [1968]. #38 of 100cc. 26.6 x 22.5 cm. Yellow paper over board covers. 10 small stencils in Serizawa's inimitable style of women bathing. Hand-stenciled and hand-colored by Serizawa, with his stenciled initials on the title page. In the original red cloth chemise, all in the original outer cardboard box with printed title label. Fine throughout.

1935. [WOODBLOCK PRINT] YOSHIDA Hiroshi. "YOSHIKAWA". 24.4 cm X 37.7 cm. Color woodblock print by Hiroshi Yoshida, pencil-signed "Hiroshi Yoshida" in the lower right hand margin and with his "jizuri" seal at the upper left margin. A lovely print in muted colors, depicting a weir in a river with some rustic Japanese houses in the backround (see the illustration). With mild toning, else very good.

This is a somewhat soiled and worn copy that has been quite shaken. There is chipping to the foot and crown, and a small puncture to the spine. Hinges starting. A reading copy. Poetry.

Ex-library, no external markings; occasional ink stamp. Lacking the paper label to spine; very slight soiling to boards. Slight offsetting. Very slighlty cocked; rear hinge starting. Very good overall. Binding Aa, (BAL 7921).

19. BURGESS, Gelett. THE YOUNG FAMILY MARCHES ON. A Technique of Youthfulness from "Look Eleven Years Younger." Tentative Suggested Treatment for a Series of Short Motion Picture Dramas. Typescript, 12 sheets about 5" x 8", stapled together. Together with a typed letter, on Burgess' letterhead and signed with his characteristic monogram: "Here is... the synopsis of a series of novie [sic] shorts which I prepared some time ago." The typescript has some soil and edgewear, with two bits of tape at the spine; the letter has been folded and is nicked at one edge.
