Description:
Philadelphia: G. Willig's Music Store, 1824. Very Good. 8 p.: music for piano; 32 cm. Disbound from a larger volume. Faintly at head of title: "For Mr. Fisher." No date of publication. The composer, Johann Baptist Cramer (1771-1858), was born in Mannheim, but spent most of his life in England. Cramer's arrangement of the traditional English song "You Gentlemen of England" is for piano, without lyrics. George Willig (1764-1851) was active as a music publisher and seller in Philadelphia from 1794 until his death in 1851. Without his address in the imprint, it is impossible to determine a date of publication. However, his use of "music store" rather than "musical magazine" suggests that it was published between 1824 and 1851. In Very Good Condition: disbound; light horizontal lines on title page; otherwise, clean.
