The program for a fundraiser dance held by the Good Samaritan Committee of Fellowship Lodge No. 1071 of the International Order of Odd Fellows on Oct. 22, 1948, at the Club Del Rio in Manoa, Pa. The stated purpose of the Good Samaritan Committee was to loan hospital beds, wheelchairs, and crutches to residents of Haverford Township, Delware County, Pa., for no charge. "This service does not draw the line on race, color or creed." -- p. [2]. The program consists almost entirely of advertisements for local businesses. The composer, Johann Baptist Cramer (1771-1858), was born in Mannheim, but spent most of his life in England. Cramer's arrangement of the traditional English song "You Gentlemen of England" is for piano, without lyrics. George Willig (1764-1851) was active as a music publisher and seller in Philadelphia from 1794 until his death in 1851. Without his address in the imprint, it is impossible to determine a date of publication. However, his use of "music store" rather than "musical magazine" suggests that it was published between 1824 and 1851. In Very Good Condition: disbound; light horizontal lines on title page; otherwise, clean.

McCarthy & Co. appears to have only been in business in 1892 indicating that they must have purchased the pages from Barr-Dinwiddie Co. and issued it with their own cover. Gift inscription to Bessie Zelda Miller on back free endpaper dated Dec. 30, 1899. With: the 16 6-x-8.5-inch sheets with drawings, dated 1894-1900, which Bessie Miller kept in the book. Very scarce.
