British Council, London, 1951, first edition; large 8vo, pp 90 and also with several full page photographs; clean throughout but with some foxing of the covers and end papers and with the covers lightly dust soiled and slightly rubbed. This is the second issue of the magazine, in this case reviewing what it calls the country's "principal literary output" from 1 November 1949 to 31 October 1950. Noel Annan writes on Bertrand Russell, Stephen Spender on Eliot's "The Cocktail Party" and Walter Allen on George Orwell and there are poems by Kathleen Raine and other relevant essays. Contains a 9pp page essay by Bertrand Russell, "On Catholic and Protestant Sceptics" as well as other contributions by David Garnett, André Maurois and others.
