Includes a post publication single page blurb of "Bob" Jim who passed shortly after the publication.

Stamford, Conn: The Yale & Town Mfg. Co, 1884. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Quarto. 384 pages. Illustrated with several black and white illustrations of locks, door knobs and accessories. Some of the illustrations are gold colored lithographs. Dark green cloth hardcover with black borders, decorations and gilt title on the front cover and the spine. The front hinge is cracked. The interior contents are in very good condition. The Yale Lock Manufacturing Company opened in Stamford, Connecticut in 1868. The company later change it's name to the Yale and Towne Manufacturing Company.

The title, Memorial Edition, and a Blue and the Gray 1861-1865 wreath design are gilt stamped on the front cover. Front cover has light spotting. Slight crack front hinge. Rear board has some bug cosmetic damage to cloth. Cloth at head and tale of spine and corners edge worn. Thin closed slit to cloth middle of the spine. End sheets have very light scattered foxing. Nice lengthy gift inscription in blue pen on the right front end sheet concerning a legal battle of the late author's estate; "To Hon. George L. Bell, Judge Fulton Superior Court. A Souvenir of Hills vs. Atlanta Art Assin argued Aug 11, 1916, before you. Judgment ? court of firmed, 145 Ga 856. With warm regards, Douglas & Douglas Atty's Est. Lucius Perry Hills, dec'd. From the New Georgia Encyclopedia: After the American Revolution, Georgia was not in a position to protect its western boundaries where Indian Tribes lived. Georgia entertained the sale of the land to prospective companies to establish settlements. Early efforts to sell the land did not succeed. Finally in 1794, Georgia Federalist James Gunn arranged to have the distribution of money and Yazoo lands to legislators, State officials, newspaper editors and influential Georgians. A majority of Georgia legislators then passed the act to sell the land in November 1794.
