(gray cloth; no dust jacket, probably as issued) [nice and clean, essentially as-new with just the teensiest bump to the top rear corner] (color and B&W reproductions) Catalogue for an exhibition of modern American art presented at C&M Arts in NYC in October-December 1997. Includes color photos of 38 individual works, with the following artists represented: Alexander Calder, Joseph Cornell, Willem de Kooning, Richard Diebenkorn, Sam Francis, Philip Guston, Hans Hofmann, Franz Kline, Roy Lichtenstein, Brice Marden, Barnett Newman, Jackson Pollock, Robert Rauschenberg, Mark Rothko, David Smith, Frank Stella, and Cy Twombly. Quite a lineup! The frontispiece is a 4x4 grid of headshots of 16 of the 17 artists -- I guess Hans Hofmann (the only one omitted) must have drawn the short straw. (Or else they thought they could leave him out because he'd been dead for over thirty years -- but then what about Pollock, dead for over forty years?!) .
