Original blue paste-paper wrappers, 7 x 4.63 inches, 51, [1] pages. The prospectus and terms behind the newly-formed Boston insurance company that would be responsible for steering investment capital into the development of New England industry, all under the guidance of its actuary Nathaniel Bowditch (probably the most prominent early American mathematician, astronomer, and financial "quant"), listed here prominently among the officers. Bowditch had left his longtime post with the Essex Fire and Marine Insurance Company in Salem in 1823 to join this company in Boston.
