New York: White, Stokes, & Allen, Publishers, 1885. Small octavo, 32 pages. FIRST EDITION. Includes remarks on salads, fifty recipes for salads, and two recipes for dressings. One in the series of single-subject "Cookery Books" published by Frederick Stokes. Murrey was the caterer of New York's Astor House and Philadelphia's Continental Hotel. In publisher's paper covered boards, front and back covers printed illustrated with a young girl preparing salad on a sideboard. Very near fine, and scarce thus. Gift inscription in year of publication to the front pastedown, "Merry Christmas to Bessie, from Meme, December 25, 1885". [OCLC locates seven copies; Bitting, page 337 (different printing); not in Cagle].
