Thomson's (1856-1940) paper describing the physics of droplet formation published three years before Charles Thomson Rees Wilson (1869-1959) published this first paper on the cloud chamber which he is credited with inventing and resulted in his 1927 Nobel Prize in Physics. Thomson's work on the conductivity of electricity through gases led to his winning of the 1906 Nobel Prize in Physics.
