About This Item
Famed "Life" photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt's even more famed August 14, 1945 V-J Day photograph showing a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square has caused a sensation in recent years, with half a dozen men and several women claiming to be the sailor and the nurse -- but this sailor and later New York policeman's claim is among the strongest. IPS, 8½" X 11", n.p., n.y. Near fine. Heavy stock mat finish reproduction of the iconic image, with the "Life" logo in red at the top. In a light are at lower left, he boldly inscribes and signs in black marker: "To: Judy / Sincerely / Carl S. Muscarello.
