Signature by CULVER, Calvin (1943-89)

This adult film star ("Casey Donovan") of the '70s and '80s wanted to act in mainstream parts, even appearing on Broadway in 1972 with Ingrid Bergman and in "The Merchant of Venice" in 1973, but wasn't able to make the transition and died of AIDS-related illness at age 46. Large, bold signature in blue fineline, heavy stock 5" X 3" card, dated by him 21 June 1974 at upper right. Fine. With original envelope, with return name/address address at upper left likely in Culver's hand (he prints it in all capital letters, making authentication less than certain).
