This Royal Air Force ace was one of England's finest during World War Two, downing 20 enemy aircraft, with another 6 probables and 9 damaged. Signed Commemorative Envelope, 7½" X 4½", n.p., cancelled 10 April 1990. Fine. Large pictorial color cachet filling left half of envelope, titled "The Battle of Britain / The Major Assault / 13-15 August 1940," depicts British warplanes engaging enemy aircraft over England, plus a detailed explanatory text at right about a commemorative flight. Alongside the special circular postal cancellation, Drake signs boldly in black fineline. Accompanied by a lengthy printed statement detailing each day of this 3-day assault. Uncommon.
