This American artist designed twelve U.S. postage stamps, five U.S. coins and Olympic medallions. Signed First Day Cover, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in New York, New York on 29 April 1986 and with "First Day of Issue" boldly stamped. Single 22-cent "Duke Ellington" stamp at upper right. No decorative cachet at left; no distracting recipient's name/address. Near the center, in black fineline, the artist boldly inscribes and signs: "Best wishes to you / Jim Sharpe." Small portion of original transmittal envelope also present.
