Scientific American was founded by inventor and publisher Rufus M. Porter in 1845[2] as a four-page weekly newspaper. Throughout its early years, much emphasis was placed on reports of what was going on at the U.S. Patent Office.

Offered is an early advertising cover for the Scientific American, with illustration of it's New York office, and the interior of the building in 1858. Very nice ephemeral item relating to the early days of the patent office.
