About This Item
Scrapbook. Good. Soft cover. 'DANCING THROUGH LIFE- A CHORUS GIRL'S SCRAPBOOK'-- As a performer in 1920s-1940s show-business, Miss Lorraine Kruger, of Oklahoma & Hollywood, tap danced and worked in theater. Lorraine clipped and pasted many newspaper & photos of herself as a dancer and actress-- her 80 pp. scrapbook is a look-back to one singular woman and the star-making machinery behind 1920s-'40s theater and Hollywood movies. Lorraine clipped lots of newspapers and photos-- press reviews, newspaper stories, publicity shots/ chorus girls, in group shots and with big Stars/ dance reviews/ gossip items about Lorraine/ perky Lorraine in publicity shots with actors Clark Gable, Joe Penner, Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire. Lorraine Kruger, of Chandler, Oklahoma, got her first press review in 1921-- at age 3, Lorraine made her stage debut as 'adorable baby', the only 'lady' cast in "The Womanless Marriage". Lorraine's talent got her great reviews in Oklahoma, and she became a featured dancer-actress. In the early '30s, Lorraine left for Hollywood and it's fame and fortune-- but chorus work was all she found. Hollywood choreographer Hermes Pan noticed Lorraine and gave her a solo dance number in his film "New Faces of 1937"--this 80 pp. scrapbook shows Lorraine forever dancing in Hollywood's chorus lines. By late 1940s, Lorraine Kruger retired from her dance career and life as a chorus girl dancer. In excellent condition- (80) disbound sheets in custom box, 10"x12". Domestic s/h $20..
