Los Angeles: Springfield Productions, 1957. Original story treatment script for an unproduced 1957 film by legendary screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, based on an idea by producer Alec March, with screenwriter Ben Perry fronting the script for the blacklisted Trumbo. Written in the prose style of most treatments.
Trumbo bought out the rights of March and Perry, and sold the film to Kirk Douglas' Bryna Productions in 1961, but a screenplay was never completed. In 1970, Rod Taylor was attached to star and produce the film through his Rodlor Production company, but, again, production never appeared to get beyond the treatment stage.
The story, which must have been quite controversial when written, is about a famous white Hollywood actor, widowed five years earlier, who falls in love with a brilliant African American cabaret performer in Paris.
Red titled wrappers, undated, with credits for Trumbo on the wrapper and title page. 71 leaves, with the last leaf numbered 69. Offsetting from an old paperclip on the front wrapper and title page, else about Near Fine with some light soil, bound with two gold brads.
