Culver City, CA: Columbia Pictures, 1969. Revised First Draft script for the 1970 film "I Walk the Line," here under the working title, "An Exile." Copy belonging to costume designer Lewis Brown, with his name on the front wrapper, and annotations throughout, in holograph ink.

Based on Madison Jones' 1967 novel, "An Exile." Henry Tawes (Peck) is the sheriff in a small town in Tennessee who meets Alma (Weld), whose father makes moonshine illegally. The two attempt to have an affair, but secrets travel fast in a small town.

Shot on location in Gainesboro, Tennessee and Colusa County, California. Soundtrack by Johnny Cash, including his 1956 titular song.

Yellow titled wrappers, noted as REVISED SECOND DRAFT on the front wrapper, production No. 8922, dated January 28, 1969, with a credit for screenwriter Sargent. Title page present, identical to front wrapper. Last leaf of text numbered 140. Mechanical duplication, with blue, yellow, and eye-rest green revision pages throughout, dated variously between 2/5/69 and 2/7/69. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, bound with three gold brads.
