An intimate look at the British Royal family from May to September of 1997, following the death of Princess Diana on August 31, 1977, and the struggle between Queen Elizabeth's (Helen Mirren) desire to treat it as a private affair, and Prime Minister Tony Blair (Michael Sheen) and Prince Charles' (Alex Jennings) desire to quell the public's demand for a more overt and public expression of grief.

Winner of the Academy Award for Best Actress for Mirren, nominated for five others including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.

Set in and shot on location in England, Scotland, and France.
