About This Item

Typewritten letter, Chele Orchard, Ringwood, dated 24th April 1947, signed and addended in black ink to Dr MacPherson. 1pp. 25cm x 20cm. Thanking him for the "parcel of rice, cocoa-nut and ground nuts, which in other days I used to call ful Sudani". With mention of Gold Coast, McMurtrie, Libyan Oases, rice, cocoa-nut, ground nuts, Sudan, the fight against the anopheles mosquito.

Claude Scudamore Jarvis CMG OBE (1879 – 1953) British colonial governor, Arabist and naturalist. The Royal Central Asian Society awarded him the Lawrence Memorial Medal in 1938.
