He rose through the ranks of the Roman army, eventually becoming one of their most trusted generals. In 218 BC, Hannibal led an army of 120,000 soldiers in a devastating campaign across the Alps, culminating in a devastating victory over the Romans at the Battle of Zama. After this victory, Hannibal and his army scattered across Europe, plundering and pillaging their way across the continent. In the end, however, Hannibal was betrayed and captured by the Romans. He was then brought to Rome and executed.; 8vo; 486 pages .

Synopsis

Thomas Harris began his writing career covering crime in the United States and Mexico, and was a reporter and editor for the Associated Press in New York City. His first novel, Black Sunday , was published in 1975, followed by Red Dragon in 1981, The Silence of the Lambs in 1988, and Hannibal in 1999.
