Stated First American Edition/First Printing with the transposed lines on p. 138, in the first state jacket with 3 blurbs to the back panel. A Very Good book in a Very Good dust jacket. A handsome copy of this classic novel of espionage; uncommon in the first printing and in collectible condition. This copy is in very good condition showing some mild fading to the spine lettering, light age-toning to the text block, a gentle looseness to the binding (probably been read a time or two), and a couple of stray smudges in the pages. Housed in a clean and bright very good or better jacket that shows some rubbing and creasing to the edges and the folds, and some mild creasing to the spine ends, top panel edges, and the flap edges. Overall, a presentable and collectible copy of a classic novel that looks lovely in a fresh mylar sleeve; Not remaindered, not price clipped, not ex-library; will ship carefully wrapped in a sturdy box.

Named “Best Crime Novel” by the Crime Writers' Association in 1963 and “Best Mystery Novel” by the Mystery Writers of America in 1965, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold was the first work to win the award from both writing organizations. Additionally, it was named the “Best spy novel of all-time” by Publisher’s Weekly and is listed as one of the All-Time 100 Novels by Time magazine.
