A lovely first edition copy of this children's book. L. T. Meade was the pseudonym if Elizabeth Thomasina Meade Smith, a prolific writer of girls' stories and wrote over two hundred and eighty books during her lifetime. The story follows four children who set off to join their parents in the land beyond the blue mountains and the encounters they make along the way. With five full page illustrations and a frontispiece and further in-text illustrations. At the beginning of each chapter there are lovely hand coloured illustrations embedded into the text.Collated, complete.With a sixteen page catalogue to the rear. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth. Externally, smart some marks to the boards and spine and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The front free endpaper is slightly folded and has a previous owner inscription dated 1916. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good
