New York: Atheneum, 1986. First edition. Hardcover. Very good/very good. Bernstein, Zena. 233pp. Octavo [22 cm] Tan cloth over boards with a lavender ink stamped design on the spine, and a small illustration of a rat with a leaf on the front board. "First Edition" stated on copyright page. The spine is moderately rolled. Several pages have trivial soiling. In a price-clipped dust jacket, with sporadic shallow open tears to the edges, several vertical creases to the inside flaps, and subtle toning. The front panel has a bit of minor soiling. No Newbery Award sticker. Illustrated by Zena Bernstein. The author, Robert C. O'Brien was born in New York City and grew up in a family of Irish storytellers.
