Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1937. Hardcover. Good - condition. Prewar annotated copy of an early American edition of Mein Kampf, by an unidentified and enraged anti Fascist. A portion of the front dust jacket on inside board & rear dust jacket is tipped on at the front, with the review by Dorothy Thompson, and a handwritten note, "Fascism", and "turn to page 24". These lengthy comments at pp24-25, are next to the statement "by defending myself against the Jews, I am fighting for the Lord's work" (p25), include: "How does he know what would result from such a "law". Why! Has he ever tried Marxism or Communism? No! Hitler has chased out all of the leading men of science out of Germany, mostly Jews, and has set civilization back into the middle ages". Other comments are written the early pages of the book. Abridged and translated by E.T.S. Dugdale. 8vo, frontispiece, viii, 297pp. Brown cloth with red titles, cloth worn and rubbed; loose inner hinge. Period printed b&w photographs of Mussolini & Hitler as cartoon figures tipped in at rear, with rather vulgar graphic commentary. OCLC: 1871951.

New York: Houghton Mifflin, 1938. This early American edition of Hitler's famous autobiography has a brown, yellow and black dj with black and yellow lettering. Dust jacket is 95 percent intact, with edgewear and some creases. It is encased in a removable mylar sleeve to prevent further wear. Rear dj has a note by Dorothy Thompson. Dj has price of $2.50 printed on front flap. The book is bound in tan boards with red lettering on the front and spine. Boards are clean, binding tight; page edges have some dust spots and mild wear; pages very faintly browned, but clean and unmarked. Frontispiece is a black-and-white photo of Hitler addressing a huge rally. This edition is abridged and translated by E.T.S. Dugdale. The stated copyright date is 1933; however, a timeline of events in Hitler's life includes dates up through November 1936. Includes a short publisher's note. 297 pages; approx. 5"x8".. Hard Cover.
