Use three words to describe yourself.

idealistic, epicurean, nerd!

What does  your dream library look like?

My dream library has vaulted ceilings, custom cabinets to accommodate those ridiculously large 'coffee table' art books, Tiffany lamps hung low over a couple of overstuffed chairs and ottomans. And my bed is in the middle of the room, because I would never want to leave.

What do you like to do when you're not working?

I love making blanket forts with my son, gardening, cooking, walking through the woods, and fire dancing. Yes, I said “fire dancing.”

What book changed your life?

Fernando Pessoa's The Book of Disquiet. He wrote in four different voices he called "heteronyms," and all of these great writings were discovered in a trunk after his death and published. I like to close my eyes, open the book, throw a finger somewhere on the page and open my eyes to read that section. Then I meditate on it for a bit.

What book do you have multiple copies of?

Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita. Eventually I'd like to have a first edition and copies in all different languages.  J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan is coming in a close second at this point--I have three editions on the shelf.

Autobiography:

I was born and raised here in the Appalachian Mountains, and moved to Asheville in 2000. I went to UNC-Asheville to study creative writing, which I still practice every day. I have a 3 year-old son named Thaddeus who appreciates such fine modern literature as Where the Wild Things Are and Goodnight Moon.
