SIGNED by the Author on the front free endpaper, 8vo, black quarter cloth with silver lettering on spine over red boards, archival mylar-protected pictorial dust jacket (unclipped) depicting a mounted polo player striking, [xiv] + 271 pages + [2] About the Author. Born in Poland as Józef Lewinkopf,, Jerzy Kosinski (1933-1991), began his writing career around 1960 using the pseudonym "Joseph Novak." Soon the Polish Communist Party black-listed him. Not long after, under his own Americanized pen-name "Kosinski," his big break came with the novel The Painted Bird (1965) about a boy surviving the Nazis. His bestselling novel Steps (1968) won the National Book Award. Being There (1970) and was made into a movie. Other noteworthy titles include; Cockpit (1975); Blind Date (1977); and Passion Play (1979). Very Fine: tight, clean, bright copy in a sharp dj with a bold SIGNATURE diagonally across the ffe.
