London: Office of the National Illustrated Library, 1852 First edition thus. Much of this book had appeared in the Illustrated London News. Preface dated 1852. HB. Embossed decorative green cloth, gilt titles and floral decorations to spine. 306pp. Yellow endpapers. With 50 engravings in text and plates. Not a guide book but a series of sketches 'in poetic prose' of various parts of London. A few light marks, and edges and margins browned. Split to front hinge at endpaper, various owners' names to flyleaf. Covers bright, cloth darkened to margins, lightly bumped and rubbed corners, spine ends frayed. A Good copy.
