Watts DD, London C. Corrall 1818. Attractive contemporary full red straight grained morocco bindings. Each volume with a gilt stamped view of St. Paul's Cathedral to both thr front and rear boards, all within decorative gilt and blind tooled borders. Spines fully gilt. All edges gilt. A one inch split to the bottom lower hinge of the Bible and some minor rubbing to the edges but overall they are in very good condition. The bindings are not signed. A very attractive little set.

A rare printing of the Church of England's 'Book of Common Prayer' printed at Cambridge University in 1791. This popular devotional and supplement to the Bible was a critical part of the early English Church liturgy and doctrine. However, this edition, and others of similar size, are considered quite rare. This edition includes a daily calendar for each month of the year with feast days, martyr days, and prayers. This 1791 edition also includes the book of Psalms collected into English meter by Thomas Sternhold, John Hopkins, and others.

Gerardus Vossius was a 16th-century Dutch classical theologian known for being one of the first to treat theological dogmas and non-Christian religions from a historical point of view, rather than the more accepted theological. His works of rhetoric were widely popular and were used as textbooks during and after his lifetime. He followed Aristotelian thought and was influenced not only by Aristotle, but also by Cicero and other ancient philosophers.
Vossius's "De Theologia Gentili" was his commentary on the origins and rise of idolatry throughout history. It gives glimpses into Gentile theologies followed in the Bible. This 1668 edition was published in Amsterdam by Blaeu.

1873 Hardbound leather with 2 clasps in good working condition. No evidence of previous ownership. Title and decorative art are in Gilt. Moderate wear along the edges, and top & bottom of spine. Back, lower edge of leather is torn. All page edges are in gilt. End papers look like they have been reinforced to the spine with green repair tape. Pages are clean, not torn and the corners are not folded. Sewn-in brown satin ribbon is in very good condition. Place holders for family pictures at the back of the book, which are empty. No ancestral information recorded. Bible is free of names and writing. OVERSIZE. Will require extra postage. Proceeds from the sale of the Bible are donated to our local library.
