Twenty unblemished floral plates containing 67 design compositions in torrid, vivid pochoir colour designs (art nouveau/art deco influences) on heavy paper board, 46 cm x 32.4 cm, light chipping along fore-edges and bottom edges for several, in loose portfolio, no text, fairly clean portfolio covers w/original ties missing but colorful paper title sheet w/o chips. Some plates have sold at auction for $350 per the Met in NY which has one of the few available copies. Variety of uses for these designs by decorators, architects, fashion people, graphic artists, set designers, etc.

First Edition Octavo, some rubbing to original leather boards, missing spine title and some wear although clean inside with little foxing, backstrip a little rubbed in places, corners bumped, head of spine shows piece lost yet a nice copy of the most sought-after single volume of the series. The Annual Register is a British survey of the past year (traditionally focusing on history, politics, and literature). This volume covers the events of the American Revolutionary year, and prints in full (pp. 261¿270) the American Declaration of Independence. Rare 1st edn with all key points, stains and wear to cover esp. along edges but reasonably good internal condition, 27 lovely drawings, blue titles and kids' trousers, tan spine binding, 12mo, v + 56pps, a few short open tears that can easily be repaired. Date is a guess as no copyright page which is important in establishing edition--Bannerman was very suspicious of publishers as the one in London bilked her, f/o first name on pastedown.

These are part of a series of 22 etchings. Pecsenke (1942-1989) was a native of Hungary who lived in New York and celebrated in his art his long-time experience in theatre as an actor and designer. His work includes etchings of Commedia Dell'Arte. His work is in the public collections of the Metropolitan Opera, The Joffrey Ballet, The Folger Library, the New York Philharmonic, and Yale University. Commedia dell'Arte, also known as "Italian comedy," was a humorous theatrical presentation performed by professional players who traveled in troupes throughout Italy in the 16th century.
