London: Routledge, 1879. 25 volumes (complete). 8vo, contemporary half tan calf, spines with gilt thistles with corner ornaments within raised bands with red and black lettering pieces; a very pretty set in excellent condition. With the armorial bookplate of J. Monro Walker on front pastedowns.

London: Charles & Henry Baldwin, later volumes Baldwin, Cradock, & Joy, 1820-1828. 16 volumes, engraved titles. 8vo, contemporary half tan calf , spines floral gilt and with black lettering and numbering pieces; a little rubbed, a few headbands slightly chipped, lower joint of vol. 16 cracked and with chip to backstrip; attractive on the shelf however.

Oxford: at the University Press, 1934. One of only 101 copies printed. Etched frontispiece and tailpiece. Large 8vo, pp. 324, original gray textured cloth with leather lettering piece to spine, top edge gilt, others uncut; fine in slipcase. With later inscription from his sons presenting this volume to the Girdlers Company. Sir Harry Newton's fine library, which this volume catalogues, giving also details of their acquisition and other anecdotal observations, was auctioned at Dukes of Dorchester in 2007.

Engraved portrait frontispiece of Pope to each volume and 12 further engraved portraits of Joseph Addison, Arabella Fermer, the Duke of Buckingham, Bishop Atterbury, Nicholas Rowe, Colley Cibber, Martha Blount, the Earl of Burlington, the Duchess of Marlborough, John Gay, Dean Swift, & Lord Bolingbroke. 8vo, pp. xii:340:(12, index) & (6):389:(7, index), contemporary calf, joints and extremities rubbed, headbands a little chipped, lacking lettering pieces. Upper joint of volume 1 cracked but firm. With the engraved armorial bookplates of Sir Robert Eden Bart (1717-1755). Rare. Authorship is sometimes attributed to Edmund Curll.

Birt (& others) 1738. 8vo, pp. xix:(1):470:(6, publisher's advertisements), contemporary full tan calf, gilt rules to sides, spine gilt ruled within raised bands, lettering piece; joints cracked but firm, headband chipped, front free endpaper partly detached. With the half-title printed with advertisements to verso. With the engraved armorial bookplate of Sir Robert Johnson Eden Bart ( 1774-1844) and the signature of T. Eden on title. Rare.

Engraved frontispiece and six folding plates. 8vo, pp.xvi:230:(1, errata), contemporary full calf with lettering piece; lower joint cracked, upper cover detached. Frontispiece trimmed by binder just into image on fore-edge. With the contemporary armorial bookplate of the Hon. Edward Monkton of Somerford Hall, Staffordshire on front pastedown and his signature on the title-page. In need of rebacking and priced to allow for such.

The volume containing specifications of the work to be undertaken, manuscript notes, calculations and specifications and also, on stout paper, many fine large folding drawings in pen & ink and watercolour of the W. door of South School, Brompton Barracks, a drainage system, a floor design, house design, a hutment scheme, and a steel bridge design, etc. Many marked with the examiner’s notes and comments in red ink. Folio, contemporary full blue morocco lettered in gilt on upper cover, “Fowke Medal 1910. R. E. 2nd Lieutenant J.W.J. Raikes R.E.” The Fowke medal awarded to the top student of the Clerk of Works course. Francis Fowke (1823-1865) the architect of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and a Captain in the Corps of Royal Engineers.

She writes that she is "greatly honoured that the Circle would care to hear me, and will do my best to give some idea as to how I evolved 'Adam's Breed'. I could speak on Monday October 18th at 6.45, if that will do, but I should like you to let me know for how long you would like me to speak.....". 37 Holland Street, Kensington, W.8. 28th June 1926. 1 1/4 sides 8vo on 2 conjoined leaves, on cream paper; remains of an album leaf on the blank reverse of the second side. Very good. It was not until the following January that she addressed the Writer's Circle of the Institute of Journalists, the meeting chaired by Wilhelmina Stitch who afterwards hosted a dinner at Gatti's in her honour at which the menu consisted of dishes described in "Adam's Breed".

Two volumes. 8vo (8 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches), pages: xxxix:(1):390 & xxxi:384:188(appendix), plus substantial unpaginated index. Recent quarter mottled tan calf, spines with raised bands and crimson lettering pieces. Browning to foremargin of title to volume 1, contemporary signature on front fly. Generally very good indeed both internally and externally. The very rare 1st edition. The 2nd edition, in 2 volumes, was published in1808; the 3rd edition, in 3 volumes, in 1814.

London: for Whittingham and Arliss, 1815 onwards. Published 1815 to 1818. Twenty-six volumes bound as thirteen. With all half-titles and general titles (these with vignette illustration) and individual titles to all 104-plays within, these also with vignette illustrations; other vignette illustrations within the text. Thirteen volumes 12 mo (5 x 3 inches), contemporary grained burgundy calf, double gilt rules to sides with floral corner ornaments, all edges gilt. Spines gilt lettered direct with the title of each play within. Headbands, joints, and corners rubbed but overall a very pleasing set; good, strong and attractive. Rare as a complete set and even more so in an attractive contemporary binding.

George Newnes, London, 1892. First edition, first issue. Illustrations. 8vo (9 3/4 x 6 3/4 inches), 317-pages. Original blue bevelled cloth blocked in gilt and black. All edges gilt. A little mostly marginal foxing, upper inner joint cracked and held on webbing. Headband bruised, spine a little dulled, several inner gutters cracked, some light dustmarking to binding. Overall very good. Free from inscriptions. First issue points being 'Violent' for Violet on p. 317, and no name on the street sign on the upper board.
