London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1958. Book. Very Good. Cloth. First Edition. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. True 1st edition , preceding the US edition. A very nice copy of a scarce title. Endpapers display light foxing and there is a scattering of foxing /rust to the upper page compressed page edges. Small smudge on front board.The pages generally are very white and crisp. Jacket is not price clipped and has no loss barring a tiny amount of corner erosion and wear at the head of the spine. Jacket displays light foxing which is visible on the reverse of the jacket and the back panel, 2 short tears of 1cm or less on back panel, Light rubbing to edges. An excellent copy of a very scarce title..

Jacket is not price clipped, it has fragmentary losses to the head of the spine a small hole to the back panel near the spine edge (3mm wide 2 cm long) wide A few small edge tears & corner wear.Jacket is now in a loose protective sleeve. A collectible copy of one of the scarcest W E Johns titles.

Small losses to spine tips, chip to corner of back panel (1 cm triangle), short tear with associated creases to front panel. Book has very slight insect scarring to the compressed page edges and a few pages with creased corners (appear deliberate), small green dot on the back paste down and a slight bump to the top of the spine. Lovely fresh looking price clipped jacket has sight wear to corners and some mild break lines to the colour on the front panel. The back panel has a couple of tinY edge tears.Small line/indentation to the base of the compressed page edges. An excellent superior copy of a cornerstone book of this key author. This is an expansion of Clarke's earlier novel, "Against the Fall of Night." Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

Sydney Australia: F H Johnston, 1958. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Inscribed by Author(s). 1st Edition. A genuinely rare 1st edition of Australian poetry with dedication. Dust jacket is in fair condition and is browning to the spine with small losses. The original jacket is a form of tracing paper with a cobweb pattern visible when held to the light. Exceptionally scarce jacket is fragile and has been placed in a loose protective sleeve. The book is well preserved with no major faults. The book is inscribed 'to Noel Miles with my compliments Tom Quilty.' Noel was a geologist for a mining company that worked the Hall's Creek - De Grey area in the 1950's. Thomas John Quilty (1 April 1887 - 1979) was an Australian station owner, pastoralist, philanthropist, and bush poet. Australia: Allen & Unwin, 1982. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. The unclipped jacket has been placed in a plastic sleeve early in its life and appears nigh on perfect - Fine/Near Fine. The book itself is also immaculate except for the one glaring fault of a slightly greater than 5cm x 3cm corner clipped from the top right corner of the title page. There is a faint dustiness to the top edge. Even so, this is a very nice copy of the first edition of the author's first published work, and a keystone of modern Australian literature..

Full numberline starting from 2 with the words First Edition above (This is correct for Random House at that point in their history). This is the export edition with no US price to the flap but otherwise identical. Initials TB in copper toned ink as required, There is a little discoloration to the inside of the jacket on the back panel with repeats on the boards. Little age toning to the text block. Colour Hildebrant plate is present and undamaged. Several years since we have one of these in stock !! Over 1kg packed extra may be requested for postage to many destinations..

This the true 1st Australian edition 1st printing with significant faults to go with its significant scarcity. Major issues. Cloth externally is stained with fraying and a small hole to the top of the front hinge. There is significant foxing to early and late leaves, front hinge has exposed webbing. Gift marked in ink to front free endpaper dated Dec 1937, also dated Xmas 1937 to base of title page. Hundreds of pages have underlining in red pencil, a few pages in blue ink and blue pencil and the remnants of lead pencil scribble faint on page 201. A rare survivor of this collectible 1937 printing further pictures are available for you to form your own judgement of condition. .
